Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir Meets Two Top Somali Islamist Leaders

The Sudanese President, Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir, travelled to Eritrea yesterday where he met the small country's President behind closed doors to discuss issues related to two countries struggle against the west.
After the Presidential meeting concluded, the Sudanese President proceeded to the House of Guests, where he arranged and conducted a lengthy meeting with the Leader of the Alliance of Re-libration of Somalia (ARS), Hassan Dahir Awes. Sheikh Awes has resided in Asmara for over two years as it is base for the ARS. The ARS is a two part political group where one part is headed by the Current Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sh. Hassan. The more moderate Islamic leader's ARS division is known as the D'jibuti wing, while the other is commonly referred to the Asmara wing.

It is unclear Mr. Bashir intentions and the issues discussed in the meeting between him and Mr. Awes, however, sources say that the Sudanese leader is mediating for the two top officials of the Allience of the Re-libration of Somalia. President Al-Bashir had reasonedly met with Sheikh Sharif in Sudan, so it is possible that he had already had discussions that prompted him to travel to Eritrea and meet Hassan Dahir Awes fulfilling objectives raised in his meeting with the Somali President.
